Learn to Row in Guelph
Guelph Rowing Club Registration Now Open for Try Rowing and Adult Learn to Row 2013Spring is here and Guelph Lake is melting!
If you are an adult and have always wanted to row, Guelph Rowing Club offers two types of programs: a one-day, Try Rowing introduction offered three times during the season and a full, Learn to Row course during the month of June.
Try Rowing
If you would like to try out a 3-hour intro session, Try Rowing has been scheduled for the following three dates in 2013.
- May 25, 2013
- June 29, 2013
- August 10, 2013

Learn to Row
For those who are ready to take the full Adult Learn to Row program, registration is now open. There are weeknight, weekday morning and weekend sessions available.
Visit http://guelphrowing.com/programs/adult-learn-to-row/ to get full details and dates and to select your preferred session. The registration deadline for the weekday sessions is May 31, 2013 and for the weekend sessions it is June 13th.

New to Rowing?
Get off to a good start by learning these rowing terms.
Bow: Front of the boat (from coxie seat)
Stern: Back of the boat (from coxie seat)
Port: Right hand side of boat when seated.
Starboard: Left hand side of boat when seated.
Catch: When the blade of the oar enters the water.
Finish: When the blade is approaching and at the end of the stroke.
Release: When the blade leaves the water.
Let it Run: A command by the coxie or coach to stop rowing.
