Guelph Invitational Regatta
The University of Guelph and GRC are excited to announce that the planning of the 2021 Guelph Invitational Regatta is underway. As long as governing bodies permit regattas safe to run, Guelph Invitational will take place on September 25,2021. The running of a regatta is not possible without the greatly appreciated time and effort of GRC and UoG athlete volunteers. Here is a link to a Google Sheet where members who are interested can sign up on Guelph Invitational Regatta Task and Volunteer List. Thank you for your time and commitment to helping this event happen!

The commitment and support of our members to Learn To Scull was extraordinary this year. We had a quick start after coaching opened, and we started a brand new format using singles and a double.
Thank you also to Isobelle Grey and David Barker for their coach boat training to Sydney. Special thank you to Pat Weir for mentoring Sydney this season.
Honourable mention to Mike Atkinson for graciously lending his training single. With an additional training single we were able to increase participation by 33%! A number of Rec rowers have also benefited as they have been able to improve their skills by moving from the Oli to the Edon. Thank you so very much.

Decommission of Wooden 8s
Last Saturday morning, a small group of members gathered to say farewell to a couple of club boats. James White made a toast to the Stroke of Luck and the Rhythm and Blues, thanking these boats for their service to the Guelph Rowing Club. Over the years, these boats gave hundreds of Guelph rowers, from all our programs, the opportunity to compete, to train, and to learn to row. Some members took a little piece of the boats with them to either be a reminder of all the good memories had, or give them a new life through upcycling projects. We look forward to seeing what masterpieces come from these projects and how they preserve a little piece of GRC history.

No member of a crew is praised for the rugged individuality of [their] rowing
Ralph Waldo Emerson
With regattas on the horizon and a GRC summer season over halfway, we can see how true this is. Thank you to all the athletes, members, coaches, and volunteers who have continuously committed to making rowing at GRC possible.
Take care,
The GRC Board.
