Happy Halloween GRC Members,
Hopefully, with the mild weather, many have been able to squeeze one last row in this season. Let’s take a look at the highlights from the last month!
Cold Water Rules
The club has now entered Cold Water Rules. A copy of GRC’s Cold Water Rules can be found here, or via the Google Sign Up Sheet.
GRC Apparel
Isobelle Gray has been kind enough to take the lead on GRC Apparel this year. Items should be finalized within the next two weeks. If you are interested in ordering items please keep an eye on your email as details will be sent out soon.
Regatta Recap
Over October the Guelph Gryphons competed at two regattas.
Brock Invite proved to be a windy day on Oct. 16th, 2021, with exceptional effort and resilience from all crews. Hayley Chase brought home a bronze medal in the W1x category – congratulations!

Ontario University Athletics Championship was held on Oct. 30th, 2021 and the weather held up nicely for the team at the International Flat Water Centre in Welland, ON. Gryphon Rowing had awesome performances across the board, and for some, this was the last race of the season. Kurtis Sobkowich finished second in the Men’s Lw 1x, Abby Smith finished third in the Lw Women’s 1x and Hayley Chase finished third in the Women’s 1x. Congratulations to all crews and good luck to those racing at the Canadian University Rowing Championships next weekend.
In rowing I found a sport that demanded some skill, granted, but places a much higher premium on plain hard work and persistence.
Harry Parker, Harvard Crew Coach
The hard work is not limited to those racing on the water, thank you to the many members and volunteers for their incredible efforts that make GRC run smoothly each season.
Regards,
The GRC Board
