Steven Harris Takes Bronze at U23

GRC is extremely excited to congratulate Stephen Harris for taking the bronze medal at the World Rowing U23 Championships in the lightweight men’s single.

On July 6th Rowing Canada announced the names for the 2022 NextGen National Teams and GRC would like to celebrate Stephen Harris on being selected to race the lightweight men’s single. Stephen Harris went on to represent Canada at the 2022 World Rowing Under 23 Championships this past weekend. What a huge accomplishment for Stephen, and all those who have supported his rowing career.

Stephen started rowing for John F. Ross in Gr. 9 and has rowed with Guelph during the summer, with the exception of when in Mexico with CanAmMex and Tokyo for World Juniors. Stephen also rows for Brock University where he has already accomplished a great deal in the last year having been named Male Oarsman of the Year and Male Athlete of the Year. In addition to receiving 2 Silver Medals at the Canadian University Championships, 1st in the Senior and U23 National Rowing Championships (lwt), Top Canadian at the Canadian Indoor Champs (U23 lightweight) – which qualified him for the World Indoor Championships where he took bronze!  

Stephen is an extremely determined athlete and we look forward to seeing what he does next. The GRC is so excited to see one of its own compete at such a high level.
