Adult Learn to Row 1:  July 20-31

  • If you have always wanted to row, this is the course for you!
  • Ages 18 and up, no previous experience necessary
  • Lessons available either mornings or evenings, twice a week for two weeks
  • The program provides 6 hours of rowing instruction
  • Participants will learn rowing safety, rowing technique, coxswains commands, and boat handling.

When is it?

  • Weeks of July 20 – July 31, 2015.

The Guelph Rowing Club has moved to an online payment system called Peloton. We will no longer be accepting cash or cheques for registration or boat storage fees. The Peloton system is embedded within the Rowing Canada registration system so that members can pay via credit card as they register for programs. After you register for your program you will be directed to the page that tells you that you have successfully registered for your program. On the bottom half of this page will be an icon that says “Pay With Peloton”. Clicking on this icon will direct you to the payment page at which time you can enter your payment information. Guelph 911

Guelph 911 and GRCA Team Challenge – Sunday, Sept. 14 – CLICK HERE FOR DETAILS

The GRC will be hosting a fun regatta in which Guelph’s 911 teams: Firemen, Policemen, GCRA and Paramedics, will get a lesson on rowing and then race each other on the water.

The public is invited to attend the race which will be held Sept. 14 at 11 a.m., at the Guelph Rowing Club, at Guelph Lake. In support of the event the GRCA will be reducing admission fees for the event (ages 14+ $3.00, kids –free).

A BBQ lunch will be served, cost is $5.00 per person.

Donations in support of purchasing a new boat for GRC are welcomed.

Come out to cheer on the 911 teams, visit their information booths and learn more about our city’s emergency response teams and the Guelph Rowing Club.

WHO:         This program is designed for high-school athletes as an introduction to the sport of rowing.

WHAT:       Focus on Learn-to-Train and Training-to-Train phases of Long term Athlete Development (LTAD).

Participants in this introductory rowing program will learn

        • Fundamental rowing technique
        • Introduction to training & racing
        • Care and maintenance of equipment – racing shell and oars
        • Proper boat handling and dock procedures
        • Safety rules and navigational protocols
        • Learning to be a member of a crew

WHEN:      Orientation and Information Meeting – Friday Sept 6, 6pm.  Guelph Rowing Club boathouse

Regular lesson times:
Monday Sept. 8 to Friday Sept. 12,
Monday Sept. 15 to Friday Sept. 19
6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Guelph Rowing Club
Note: Friday Sept.19 will be a race night and treats.

FEE:        $170.00 (including 13% HST)

Registration deadline Monday September 8, before  you go on the water!!!!!!



WHO:         This program is designed for high school athletes, with previous racing experience.

WHAT:       Focus on Learn-to-Train and Training-to-Train phases of Long term Athlete Development (LTAD), emphasis on head-race distance (5 km).

WHEN:      Mandatory Information Meeting – Friday Sept 5, 6pm – Guelph Rowing Club boathouse

Practices: suggested
Monday Sept. 9 to Friday Sept. 13,
Monday Sept. 16 to Friday Sept. 20.
6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Guelph Rowing Club

Regatta:  Welland – Five Bridges Head Race, a 5.2 km course Head Race on Saturday Sept. 28

FEE:   $170.00 (including 13% HST)
Regatta fees and transportation costs will be extra.
