2021 Learn to Row Program

Participants will learn rowing safety, rowing technique and boat handling

No previous experience necessary

When is it?
There are 12 lesson options:

Note: the 4:30pm time slots will be reserved for high school aged participants. If a young rower is accompanied by a parent who is also rowing, all other time slots are available for the duo, rowing in a double (two person boat).

What is cost?
$325.00 (Note: This fee covers the cost of an individual season pass to Guelph Lake Conservation Area and annual membership in Row Ontario and Row Canada.  In the event the program is cancelled due to the pandemic, we can provide a refund except for the RCA (Row Canada) and RowOntario fees, which are non-refundable. The combined cost for these two fees is $52.87.)

How many people can sign up? Spaces are limited to a maximum of five people per lesson option and coaching availability. So sign ups are first come, first served.

How fit do I have to be?
We welcome participants 13 years and up, of all abilities and fitness levels.  You must be able to swim 30 metres. Some freedom of movement is required for getting into and out of the boat. Crews will also carry their boat to the water.

What do I wear?
Close fitting shorts (spandex bike-type shorts are ideal) or tights, and a t-shirt (with a sweatshirt or fleece if it is cold). Remember to wear/bring socks and a water bottle.

How do I keep rowing after Learn to Row?
In 2021, adult graduates can register for the Novice Program while high school rowers may be able to join a summer competitive program. Details will be discussed at the end of Learn to Row sessions.
